Dear Resident of District 1;

My name is Manuel N. DaCosta (a.k.a. Manny) and I was born in the Azorean Island of Pico, Portugal.

At the age of 19, I immigrated to the United States in search of the American dream, that same dream that now allows me to announce my candidacy for the office of Town Council, District 1.

I am 49 years old, educated in the fields of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, married to Maria DaCosta. We have four wonderful boys ranging from 10 to 21 years and we live at 31 Forest Avenue in Cumberland, RI.

I have been a resident of Cumberland for 21 years and this is where my wife and I decided to raise my family. I care deeply for the future of Cumberland, particulatily District 1 and as such I am motivated to run for Town Council.

With good old common sense traditional values, I pledge to give a voice to the people and stand up against all special interests that do not represent the best interests of our district.

I believe in team work and together, we can make a difference.

 

I strongly support;

  • Good schools so that our children can have a brighter future
  • Safe and clean streets so that our children and senior citizens always feel save wherever they go
  • Eliminating unnecessary and wasteful programs to keep our taxes low in light of today's difficult economic times
  • Fighting for everyone's individual rights and traditions
  • Opposing special interest groups whose agendas are not in the best interests of our District

Should I be privilieged enough to earn your vote and be elected the next Town Council for District 1, I will Always remember my roots and the reason why you trusted me with your vote.
